    The relationship between job performance and perceived organizational support in faculty members at Chinese universities: a questionnaire survey

    BACKGROUND: Although several studies have been conducted to investigate the relationship between perceived organizational support (POS) and job performance (JP), it remains unclear whether this relationship is appropriate for faculty members at Chinese universities. The objectives of this study were to (a) examine the correlation between POS andJP; (b) identify the predictors of POS, including demographic and organizational characteristics among faculty members at a Chinese university; (c) investigate the influence of mediating factors between POS and JP; and (d) compare the findings of this study with related studies. METHODS: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was used in this study. The questionnaire was administered to 700 faculty members who were randomly selected from all faculty members at six universities. A total of 581 questionnaires were obtained. A statistical model for JP was developed based on the literature review. RESULTS: The analysis results indicated that the relationship between POS and JP was mediated by job satisfaction (JS), positive affectivity (PA), and affective commitment (AC). In addition, procedural and distributive justice contribute to POS. CONCLUSIONS: The study concludes that the relationship between POS and JP is mediated by JS, PA, and AC and is influenced by POS. These results can provide evidence for university administrators to improve POS and increase the JP of faculty members at universities

    Value of reduced glomerular filtration rate assessment with cardiometabolic index: insights from a population-based Chinese cohort

    Abstract Background Recent studies have suggested that cardiometabolic index (CMI), a novel estimate of visceral adipose tissue, could be of use in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk factors. However, the potential utility and clinical significance of CMI in the detection of reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) remains uncertain. The purpose of this study was to investigate the usefulness of CMI in assessing reduced eGFR in the general Chinese population. Methods This cross-sectional analysis included 11,578 participants (mean age: 53.8 years, 53.7% females) from Northeast China Rural Cardiovascular Health Study (NCRCHS) of general Chinese population (data collected from January 2013 to August 2013). CMI was calculated by triglyceride to high density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio multiply waist-to-height ratio. Reduced eGFR was defined as eGFR< 60 ml/min per 1.73m2. Multivariate regressions were performed to determine CMI’s association with eGFR value and eGFR reduction, ROC analyses were employed to investigate CMI’s discriminating ability for decreased eGFR. Results The prevalence of reduced eGFR was 1.7% in males and 2.5% in females. CMI was notably more adverse in reduced eGFR groups, regardless of genders. In fully adjusted multivariate linear models, each 1 SD increment of CMI caused 3.150 ml/min per 1.73m2 and 2.411 ml/min per 1.73m2 loss of eGFR before CMI reached 1.210 and 1.520 in males and females, respectively. In logistic regression analyses, per 1 SD increase of CMI brought 51.6% additional risk of reduced eGFR in males while caused 1.347 times of risk in females. After divided into quartiles, people in the top quartile of CMI had higher adjusted ORs of having reduced eGFR, with ORs of 4.227 (1.681, 10.627) and 3.442 (1.685–7.031) for males and females respectively. AUC of CMI was revealed to be 0.633 (0.620–0.646) in males and 0.684 (0.672–0.695) in females. Conclusions Higher CMI was independently associated with greater burden of reduced eGFR, highlighting VAT distribution and dysfunction as a potential mechanism underlying the association of obesity with kidney damage and adverse cardiovascular outcomes.     Identification, evaluation, and application of the genomic-SSR loci in ramie

    To provide a theoretical and practical foundation for ramie genetic analysis, simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were identified in the ramie genome and employed in this study. From the 115 369 sequences of a specific-locus amplified fragment library, a type of reduced representation library obtained by high-throughput sequencing, we identified 4774 sequences containing 5064 SSR motifs. SSRs of ramie included repeat motifs with lengths of 1 to 6 nucleotides, and the abundance of each motif type varied greatly. We found that mononucleotide, dinucleotide, and trinucleotide repeat motifs were the most prevalent (95.91%). A total of 98 distinct motif types were detected in the genomic-SSRs of ramie. Of them, The A/T mononucleotide motif was the most abundant, accounting for 41.45% of motifs, followed by AT/TA, accounting for 20.30%. The number of alleles per locus in 31 polymorphic microsatellite loci ranged from 2 to 7, and observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.04 to 1.00 and 0.04 to 0.83, respectively. Furthermore, molecular identity cards (IDs) of the germplasms were constructed employing the ID Analysis 3.0 software. In the current study, the 26 germplasms of ramie can be distinguished by a combination of five SSR primers including Ibg5-5, Ibg3-210, Ibg1-11, Ibg6-468, and Ibg6-481. The allele polymorphisms produced by all SSR primers were used to analyze genetic relationships among the germplasms. The similarity coefficients ranged from 0.41 to 0.88. We found that these 26 germplasms were clustered into five categories using UPGMA, with poor correlation between germplasm and geographical distribution. Our study is the first large-scale SSR identification from ramie genomic sequences. We have further studied the SSR distribution pattern in the ramie genome, and proposed that it is possible to develop SSR loci from genomic data for population genetics studies, linkage mapping, quantitative trait locus mapping, cultivar fingerprinting, and as genetic diversity studies

    Mechanical properties and failure prediction of aluminum alloy-BFRP bonded joints under service high temperature aging

    50℃ and 80℃ high temperature aging environments were selected and the quasi-static tensile strength and shear strength of the aluminum alloy-BFRP (basalt fiber reinforced polymer composite) bonded joints aged for 0, 10, 20 and 30 days under high-temperature were measured at the loading rate of 1 mm/min with the designed testing fixture.The failure section of the joint was analyzed by macroscopical analysis.After 80℃ high temperature aging,post curing occurs in adhesive,the mechanical properties are enhanced. Chemical bond fracture occurs in BFRP, and glass transition temperature (Tg) is decreased. After aging for 30 days, the tensile strength of the joint is decreased and the shear strength is increased. After 30 days, the failure section of tensile joint appears to be stratified. Mixed failure of adhesive layer cohesion and fiber tear appears in the shear joint. After 50℃ high temperature aging, the mechanical properties of adhesive are slightly increased. The failure strength of the tensile joint changes little, and the failure mode is dominated by fiber tearing and delamination.The failure strength of shear joint is increased slightly, and the failure mode is mainly adhesive cohesive. According to the secondary stress criterion, the curves of tensile strength and shear strength were fitted.According to the response surface principle, the response surface equation of failure criterion with aging time was established to predict the crack generation and propagation of the adhesive layer of aluminum alloy-BFRP bonded structures

    Effect of Lacking ZKSCAN3 on Autophagy, Lysosomal Biogenesis and Senescence

    Transcription factors can affect autophagy activity by promoting or inhibiting the expression of autophagic and lysosomal genes. As a member of the zinc finger family DNA-binding proteins, ZKSCAN3 has been reported to function as a transcriptional repressor of autophagy, silencing of which can induce autophagy and promote lysosomal biogenesis in cancer cells. However, studies in Zkscan3 knockout mice showed that the deficiency of ZKSCAN3 did not induce autophagy or increase lysosomal biogenesis. In order to further explore the role of ZKSCAN3 in the transcriptional regulation of autophagic genes in human cancer and non-cancer cells, we generated ZKSCAN3 knockout HK-2 (non-cancer) and Hela (cancer) cells via the CRISPR/Cas9 system and analyzed the differences in gene expression between ZKSCAN3 deleted cells and non-deleted cells through fluorescence quantitative PCR, western blot and transcriptome sequencing, with special attention to the differences in expression of autophagic and lysosomal genes. We found that ZKSCAN3 may be a cancer-related gene involved in cancer progression, but not an essential transcriptional repressor of autophagic or lysosomal genes, as the lacking of ZKSCAN3 cannot significantly promote the expression of autophagic and lysosomal genes
